On contrary, Alphabet Inc (Google) (Nasdaq:GOOGL) (Nasdaq:GOOG) (Insider Info) shares dropped around 6% in last trading session as people familiar with the matter reported that the relationship between the two tech billionaires came to an end after Elon Musk had a brief affair with Sergey Brin’s wife in the fall of last year, prompting the co-founder to divorce him earlier this year.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Brin is ranked on number eighth globally with $95 billion worth, and Musk is ranked first with an estimated fortune of $240 billion. Among the most well-known businesspeople in the United States as both billionaires Musk and Brin were friends from longtime. According to Musk, he used to frequently crash at Brin’s house in Silicon Valley for years. When the company was struggling to increase production, Brin gave around half million dollars to Musk for Tesla during the 2008 financial crisis. Musk gifted Tesla’s first all-electric sport-utility vehicles to Brin in 2015.
According to the people familiar with the matter, there has been increasing strain between the two men and their teams in current months. Some of those people declared that Brin has asked his financial advisers to sell his personal investments in Musk’s firms. It was impossible to determine the size of the investments or whether any transactions had taken place.
As per documents filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court, Brin filed for divorce from Nicole Shanahan in January of current year, alleging “irreconcilable differences.” Those persons said that Brin filed for divorce many weeks after learning about the short relationship.
